Kids say the funniest things. Want to know what tree mates, content lobsters, and tentacles have in common? Read on!

During our window shopping on Black Friday, the boys were so good. We spent about 2 hours at IKEA. At the end of the “experience,” while looking at a picture of a tree alone in a field of snow, Chris asked Zachary what he thought of the picture. Zachary’s reply was “It makes me sad. He’s all alone. He doesn’t have any tree mates!” What an empathetic little guy. Then in the car, we asked him how Jonah was doing (they had just been given some juice and crackers). Zachary’s response was “He’s as content as a lobster.” Of course that was funny and I had to know why he used a lobster for his analogy. I was told “Lobsters can be content, mommy.” I guess he told me.

Cut to this morning. We’re snuggling in bed, trying to sneak in a few more zzz’s. The cat, however, wanted to be fed. As a result he was walking back and forth between us. Zachary muttered “The cat almost stepped on my tentacles!” Of course I thought this was pretty funny and I had to explain to Zachary that the words was actually testicles. He giggled and with a heavy, 5-year old sigh said, “I should’ve just said balls.

For the Johnsons, it just doesn’t get busier than the month of June. June 4th saw Zachary turning 4, June 17 had us celebrating Daddy’s fourth year as one, there was family to visit, tattoos to get, and a dance party to attend. Whew! I need the month of July to re-energize.

Zachary’s Fourth Birthday

Zachary’s birthday party was a definite success. We rounded up the usual suspects and bounced around IPEZ. Kids of all ages had a blast playing on the big bouncies and sliding down the huge slide. Of course the birthday meal consisted of pizza and birthday cake, and Zachary received so many great gifts. Thank you for all of the wonderful presents. I’m enjoying them more than Zachary–he actually stays busy now for more than 10 minutes at a time!

Father’s Day

We spent Father’s Day on Singer island with Nana where we relaxed and drove down to Miami to visit Uncle Cory, who was under the weather. (Zachary still wants to know why Uncle Core lives in “your ami.”) Daddy received the Special Edition U2 red and black iPod (a steal on eBay). He seems to be enjoying it quite well and is now often seen doing a mean air-drum solo while doing household chores.

Tattoos

Towards the end of June, I went and got my fourth tattoo–a sunflower on the top of my left foot. I’ve been wanting it for awhile, so when I came upon the perfect picture, decided finally where I wanted to put it, I decided it was time. The artist did an amazing job and I’m pretty thrilled with it. It looks pretty sweet with all of my Florida-y shoes!

Baby Loves Disco

Lastly, there was the dance party.

It’s pretty surreal to take your child dancing in a nightclub. There’s a group called “Baby Loves Disco” and they sponsor dance events at local nightclubs, where you bring your kids. Of course, since Zachary LOVES to dance I had to take him. We had a pretty darn good time, once he warmed up to the idea. He was all for going to the dance party until he got there and saw so many people. It took about 90 minutes, but he finally got his groove on. Be sure check out the video–it’s on the Eye Candy page.

As always, the slideshows are updated to include June activities. No, I haven’t forgotton Jonah. This month, however, we remembered that there were other people in our family 😉

Did May zoom by as quickly for you as it did for us? Yikes, what a busy month. Besides Jonah growing like a weed, Zachary completed another year of “school.” He’s Pre-K now–how scary is that? (Pretty scary from my perspective.) That means that kindergarten is only a year away. We’d better start saving for that private school now. I’m not sure the public school system is ready for the Z-man. (hee hee)

map of drive from apopka to charlestonFor Mother’s day, Chris gave me the sweetest present–he sent me to South Carolina to see my dearest friend Michelle. The boys and I went on a road trip. Sounds like a Lifetime movie, doesn’t it? Tagline: Eight hours in a car with two small children–who will survive? Actually, it wasn’t bad. We just made a lot of stops and got all sugared up. It was definitely worth the drive–South Carolina is beautiful. I wish I could’ve spent more than two days to see the sights. We did get to see the SC aquarium and downtown Charleston. Standing in what used to be the slave market was really creepy, but the antebellum homes on the water with their widow’s walks and gardens were really amazing. We’ll definitely have to go back.

June is here and is going to be just as busy as May…stay tuned 🙂

Time certainly does fly. I can’t believe my last post was almost two months ago. Jonah and Zachary (and Chris and work and laundry, etc., etc., etc.) are keeping me very busy these days.

All that’s really happened in the last seven weeks is Jonah. He’s growing like a proverbial weed. At his 6-week checkup he is now 12.5 pounds. He’s gurgling, cooing and just being downright adorable, like it’s his job or something. Of course we can’t help comparing him to Zachary at his age. He’s as great of a baby as Zachary was, just a little more mellow. While the Z-man loved being in the carseat, Jonah hates it unless the car is actually moving. Even then he fusses a little for good measure. Zachary is a binky man–something we are going to be working on soon. Jonah’s not such a fan. He’ll take it when he’s too exhausted to put up a fight, but lately he seems to really prefer his hand. I caught him with his thumb today. NOT what I want to see!

Segue to the adults. Chris just celebrated his 37th birthday last month. Wow we’re getting old! We had a great dinner at Kobe. Mom was in town, so she joined us. So did Mary, Tricia, Ashley, Dave, Ivonne and the girls. Dinner was yummy and everyone had a great time.

Of course there are more pics of everyone. Check out the latest slideshow for Zachary’s green tongue (thank you Ms. Laurie!) and the charming Jonah-penguin (thank you KB!).

Hopefully someone will read this. Even if they don’t, Life is Good…
