Slipping back into old habits

For those of you who don’t already know, I’ve been trying to lose weight. Thanks to Ivonne I’ve lost 35 pounds since May. That’s the good news. The bad news is I have 30 pounds to go. I’ve been off the medication that Ivonne prescribed me since October and thankfully I have not gained any weight back. In fact, I’m quite often annoyed that I have to keep stopping to pull my pants up whenever I walk anywhere. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a nice problem to have. πŸ™‚

What I have to be careful of, especially in times of stress, is falling back into old (bad) habits. The month of December has been up and down like only the holiday season can be. I’ve found myself not once, but twice, grabbing my all-time favorite comfort lunch—Stouffer’s macaroni and cheese and a Pepsi. The first time was when I had to run to the store for Jonah’s lunch. I didn’t even realize I was reaching into the cooler until it was too late. That lunch was so yummy I found myself stopping at the store again two days later, this time with no other excuse.

I need an intervention! Okay, not really. Falling off the wagon twice since May doesn’t have me reaching for the diet pills again, but I do need to quit eating macaroni and cheese just because I have a few million things going on. There are better ways to deal with stress. It’s been so beautiful here, maybe I should get my ass on those fancy rollerblades that are acting as planters right now.

How about you, my not-so-many fans, what food(s) do you run to when the going gets tough?
